I create impressionistic landscape paintings in soft pastel as well as retro-inspired graphic posters. My work centers on the effects of light and shadow on the landscape, with a particular focus on the distinct character and personality of trees. I fell in love with pastel from the first moment I picked it up.

I have been the treasurer and membership chair for the Adirondack Pastel Society for the past 10 years. Over that time, I have seen our society grow from 30 to 75 members. It is my intention to step down from this position after our national exhibit this summer. I would like to take the time to thank everyone for their many kind words of support over the years. I have amassed quite the collection of notecards illustrating member works, which I keep in my studio as they are so inspirational to me.

Years ago, I met the two pastel artists in our area. We all had office/studios at the Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. What were the chances? They put out a call for pastel artists to form a Pastel Society, and I was the only person who showed up. The three of us have all taken turns being president and handling all kinds of jobs that a society needs to survive.

I was born and raised in the Northeast. I have always been drawn to the mountains, lakes and ocean. I am inspired by my natural surroundings and capturing the serenity and magnificence of my special moments with nature. Whether it’s majestic mountains, reflections in a lake, the colors of autumn or a wildlife moment, my goal is to “share the moment” through painting.
