The Adirondack Pastel Society, in concert with the Shirt Factory Gallery will once again be hosting its Annual National Pastel Exhibition this summer. ShowSubmit will be handling entries this year.

The exhibit will be on display July 10 through August 10. We’re very pleased to have Christine Ivers as our show and awards judge, and she will be teaching a workshop at the Shirt Factory Gallery July 19-20 (see below).
Chris attained a BFA in painting and two dimensional design from Hartford Art School in 1973 and found work in the advertising field for the last 40 years. She has been Creative Director at numerous ad agencies and in 1986 broke off on her own to start her own company. She works with artists in that cross-over world of fine art and digital photography to teach them how to better promote themselves.
After raising four daughters, Chris returned to her passion and works in pastels and oils. She is the Past-President of the CT Pastel Society where she also holds Signature Artist Membership. Chris is also a Master Pastelist of the Pastel Society of America, an Elected Artist Member at Lyme Art Association. Allied Artists of America, Audubon Artists, and with Academic Artists of America. Other memberships are with CT Women Artists, Salmagundi Club NYC, and numerous other art organizations.
Chris has won numerous awards and has paintings in private collections throughout New England. Her paintings were chosen by the International Association of Pastel Societies as one of eight finalists worldwide in two of the IAPS cover competitions and placed First in Pastels in the Richeson 75 Landscape Show, WI. Her paintings “Red on 5th” and “Salt” were chosen as two of Pastel Journal’s Top 100.
She was inducted into the IAPS Master Circle of Pastelists. She was juried into PaintAmerica’s Top 100 Artists for 2008 & 2010 with shows that traveled the country for next two years visiting Galleries and Museums. Chris has been published in Best of American Artists Pastel Edition, Practiqué des Arts (a French publication featuring artists from around the world), American Art Collector Magazine, The Pastel Journaland was honored with the Art Spirit Foundation Silver Medal Award for Excellence in Pastel at the Salmagundi Club in NYC.
She is a former member of the PSA Board of Governors and is the current Vice President of IAPS.
Chris and her husband David live in Central Connecticut.

July 19-20 Workshop: Nightscapes with Chris Ivers: Chris brings the night to life as she demonstrates the techniques that make her paintings shimmer with reflections and glowing lights. From learning how to lay out a complicated urban scene to putting on the final touches that make the night exciting to paint, you are sure to enjoy watching her transform her handmade surface into a beautiful nightscape. Wiawaka Plein Air Day Saturday June 29, 2019
Join members at the historic Wiawaka House on the banks of Lake George for a day of Plein air painting with a show and sale to cap off the day. Painting is open to all members of the Adirondack Pastel Society and the Plein Air Group of the Adirondacks.

Members will arrive early, and a special tent will be set up for display and sale of work created on site that day.
The show and sale will be from 5-7 p.m.

Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts Exhibit

Drop off: Work will need to be dropped off one week prior to the start of the show.
Pick up: Work must be picked up within one week of the show’s closing, but preferably on the day the show closes. Any work left more than one week will be considered a donation to the center and they will be able to use it as they see fit.
All work must be gallery-ready to hang, and work must be labeled with title, name, your address and contact information on the back.
The arts center will produce marketing materials for the gallery exhibits as group announcements. The Center takes a commission of 30% of final retail purchase price, with the buyer responsible in paying sales tax.
