Jan received her art training in Saint John N.B. Canada.

Her first work in the US was as a window display designer which led to illustrating and 36 years as a children’s book illustrator.

On retirement Jan returned to her love of watercolor for portraits and landscape. She has received many awards including both the Gold and Silver medals from the Adirondack National Exhibition of Watercolors at View in old Forge. A few years ago she began painting in pastels. In 2018 she received the First Place award at the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition at View. There have also been recent awards from APS shows at the Shirt Factory. Two for portraits and one for landscape.

Jan teaches watercolor and pastel at her studio in North River and welcomes visitors.

  • Janet’s work, “Home Fires Burning” won 1st Place in the Northeast National at View in 2018. “The Blue Boat” was a winner in the APS/Shirt Factory Gallery, and “Sisters” appeared in 2018’s National Adirondack Pastel Society Exhibition.
